Arsenal could now try and sign ‘exceptional’ winger just months after Mikel Arteta snubbed him

Arsenal fans are hoping to see Mikel Arteta make an attacking signing in the winter transfer window.

The Gunners have been in need of a new forward for well over a year now. That need was not fully addressed in previous windows and that decision has now backfired.

Bukayo Saka is injured and out for two months, and Arsenal have a huge void to fill in attack as a result. That has made the North Londoners’ pursuit of the Premier League title all the more difficult.

Arsenal are in the market for a new attacker in this window, and they have now been linked with a move to sign a proven winner.

Arsenal could make a move for Kingsley Coman

Kingsley Coman has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a long, long time.

The Bayern Munich star is one of the most accomplished footballers on the planet. He has won league titles in France, Italy and Germany and has also lifted the Champions League.

Coman, whose career has been hailed as ‘exceptional’ by the Bundesliga’s official website, has fallen down the pecking order under Vincent Kompany at Bayern. He has played less than 900 minutes of football all season.

GiveMeSport claim that Arsenal could make a move to sign the Frenchman if he is made available on loan until the end of the campaign.

The report reveals that ‘Arsenal are facing a significant challenge in trying to find good value in the market’, which is why a loan deal makes a lot of sense.

Coman, however, will cost a lot of money in wages. The 28-year-old currently pockets £270,000-a-week at Bayern.

If Arteta agrees to pay that, he will become Arsenal’s second-highest-paid player behind Kai Havertz, who earns £280,000-a-week.

Why did Mikel Arteta snub Kingsley Coman last summer?

Coman was linked with a move to Arsenal in the final days of last summer’s transfer window.

The Gunners were on the market for a new attacker, and quite a few names were considered by Arteta and then-sporting-director Edu Gaspar.

On deadline day, Coman was offered to Arsenal but Arteta rejected him.

That’s because the Arsenal manager had set his sights on Raheem Sterling, who ended up joining the Gunners on loan late on that day.

Sterling’s move hasn’t quite worked out for Arsenal so far. It remains to be seen now if Arteta will go back in for Coman to strengthen his attack for the second half of the season.
