Arsenal could offer player in swap deal for £50m striker who ‘Arteta is a fan of’

Arsenal continue to be linked with strikers despite their financial fair play issues this month, and Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus has emerged as an option again.

The Serbian forward joined Juventus from Fiorentina two years ago when Arsenal were heavily interested, but has not fully lived up to expectations, scoring 29 times in 79 appearances for the Italian giants.

Arsenal have been told to sign a forward given recent attacking struggles, as Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah have all struggled for goals at times.

Vlahovic has now emerged as a target again, and Arsenal have now been told how they can land him this time.

Arsenal could sign Dusan Vlahovic in swap deal

Speaking on The Arsenal Beat Podcast, Sky Sports reporter Gary Cotterill revealed that Juventus would consider a cash and player offer for Vlahovic, given their financial struggles and desperation for a midfielder.

“Not Ivan Toney because I don’t think Brentford will sell him in January,” he stated when asked if Arsenal would sign a striker.

“Another player though we know Mikel Arteta is a fan of is Dusan Vlahovic. Juventus wanted £50m, but that was too steep for Arsenal, but Juventus have financial problems.

“They would listen to a cash-plus-player offer and there are also these tax rules in Italy which is something for them to consider.”

Juventus have recently been linked with Arsenal players Charlie Patino, Jorginho and Thomas Partey, but it emerged that Partey’s injury problems have now put an end to any interest from their side.

Vlahovic is simply not the answer to Arsenal’s attacking problems. He has scored six league goals this season, just one more than Nketiah, and does not contribute as much in build-up play as Jesus.

Despite his size, Vlahovic ranks in the bottom 35% of European strikers when it comes to aerial duels, and would not upgrade any of Arsenal’s options in this regard.

Losing a talent like Patino, or an experienced leader like Jorginho for a player who is unlikely to work miracles on Arsenal’s attack would not be good business given the fee the club would still have to fork out for him.

Arsenal have been linked with a summer move for Victor Osimhen, who has been vastly superior in front of goal in the same league as Vlahovic, and a big move for the Juventus forward now would prevent a summer deal for the Napoli superstar, and Arteta should not be tempted to move for what was once his main attacking target.
