Arsenal have already started making transfer plans for the summer, with a striker likely to arrive at the Emirates.
Andrea Berta is expected to replace Edu as the North London club’s sporting director, and the Italian’s first recruitment task will be supplying Mikel Arteta with a top-class number nine.
Kai Havertz faces an extended period on the sidelines, while Gabriel Jesus is recovering from an ACL tear, meaning Arsenal will be light up front at the start of next season.
Thus, a plethora of centre-forwards are being linked with a switch to N5, including the likes of Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko.
However, a fresh twist has emerged regarding one particular target, which may make the player in question a more desirable option.

Viktor Gyokeres will be allowed to leave Sporting for £59m in the summer
Viktor Gyokeres has been linked with Arsenal for some time now, but reports have indicated that the Gunners have been reluctant to meet Sporting’s demands for the player.
The Portuguese giants were understood to be asking for a fee in the region of £84 million for the Swedish striker last summer and in January.
However, according to A Bola, this asking price is expected to drop to just £59 million in the upcoming summer window, with the Primeira Liga outfit finally willing to sell their talisman.
It’s said that Gyokeres’ representatives and Sporting have agreed that if a potential suitor is willing and able to stump this fee up, then the departure will be sanctioned.
The Portuguese outlet describe the 26-year-old’s exit from Lisbon as ‘inevitable’, and claim that his preferred destination is the Premier League.
All the top sides throughout Europe are known to hold an interest in the Sweden international, and it certainly seems as though it’s an option Arsenal could explore.

Arsenal should pounce at opportunity to sign Viktor Gyokeres
Alexander Isak remains the dream target for Arsenal, but Newcastle are likely to demand an extortionate fee for Gyokeres’ international teammate, and thus the Emirates hierarchy have to consider alternatives.
At £59 million, Gyokeres represents the perfect alternative.
Scoring 43 goals across all competitions for Sporting last season, it was reasonable to suggest that this goal-scoring form could’ve been unsustainable.
| Gyokeres’s Primeira Liga Statistics 2024/25 | |
| Appearances | 24 |
| Goals | 27 |
| Assists | 4 |
| Shots per 90 | 4.6 |
However, he’s followed this up with 39 goals in 40 appearances so far this campaign, which makes the sample size sufficient enough to suggest that the striker is probably an elite goal-scorer.
There are reasonable concerns about how he might fare in a more difficult league, but the raw ingredients are there to make him a frightening proposition to any defence in the world.
With the likes of Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka feeding him, Gyokeres could put up ridiculous numbers at Arsenal.
