Arsenal now have a decision to make about signing Raheem Sterling on Transfer Deadline Day.

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar will have Raheem Sterling on their minds right now.

Arsenal were linked with Sterling after it was made plain to the attacker that he has no future at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have deemed the 29-year-old surplus to requirements, forcing him to now seek a new club.

Arsenal discuss Raheem Sterling amid Chelsea ultimatum

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Arsenal are debating a move for Sterling behind the scenes.

Reporting on X, he stated: “Arsenal are discussing internally about Raheem Sterling as the opportunity has been offered again this morning.

“Chelsea want to find a solution for Raheem as he won’t be included in squad again if he stays, Enzo Maresca said. Sterling, assessing options to decide soon.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea have made it plain to the 82-cap England star what his options are.

As per journalist Kieran Gill, writing on X: “Raheem Sterling’s current possibilities are staying at Chelsea or leaving for Arsenal. Told as much chance he stays as goes. See how conversations develop today – talks still at club to club level.”

Manchester United have been linked with Sterling too, but when quizzed about the Red Devils’ chances of securing his services, Gill reinforced the point that a move to Arsenal or a Chelsea stay is the “likeliest” outcome.

Why Arsenal are considering Raheem Sterling move

Arteta is an admirer of Sterling, and knows the England international well, having worked with him when they were both on the payroll at Manchester City.

Sterling would address an existing issue in the North London club’s squad too. There is a strong argument that the Gunners could use additional strength in depth in the attacking department.

Ian Wright has begged Arsenal to sign a forward before the summer transfer window closes.

Sterling has proven himself at Premier League level, despite having struggled to impress for the Blues. He won titles and was prolific in his time at Manchester City.

However, there would be downsides to signing Sterling for Arsenal, as he does not fit with the age profile that the Gunners tend to target and would demand high wages.
