Arsenal’s work in the summer transfer window is far from over, with another player being linked with a move to the Emirates.
Andrea Berta has blown fans away with his work in the summer transfer window, equipping Mikel Arteta with six new signings.
Viktor Gyokeres was the latest to join the Arsenal squad, in what was the most anticipated move of the window in the eyes of fans.
After Arteta pleaded for a striker in January, pressure was on for the club to deliver a goalscorer before the 2025/26 season commenced, something Berta has done.
Though the six signings bolster the Arsenal manager’s options, further attacking reinforcements are needed, but the front line isn’t the only talking point.

Arsenal fans react to Jeremy Jacquet transfer link
As supporters wait to see if Arsenal’s interest in Eberechi Eze develops, another target has arisen.
Fabrizio Romano reported Arsenal’s desire to sign Jeremy Jacquet from Stade Rennais this summer, a 20-year-old centre-back.
The French defender is very highly rated, being a rising star at Rennes, hailing from Bondy, the same town as William Saliba and Kylian Mbappe.
Though Arteta could capture his next Saliba in the form of Jacquet, Arsenal fans have one pressing complaint about the timing of the transfer link.
“What’s our obsession with defenders?” A concerned supporter asked on X.
Similar reactions came flooding in, as Arsenal fans questioned why Arteta has an ‘obsession’ with signing defenders.
“9th or 10th defender???”
“Another CB”
One fan asked, “WHAT POSITION??????”, as another said, “Defenders defenders defenders!”
The concern didn’t come as a result of links to Jacquet in particular, but more the desire to add defensive signings to the squad at a time of need going forward.
“Bro I thought this has to be a winger,” a supporter admitted.
“Another CB before LW,” another added.
“Where is the attacking midfielder and the full back?”
While one fan admitted that they’re excited by possibly signing the ‘top talent’, they were also wary of the ‘overkill’ of signing a player similar to Cristhian Mosquera.
“Another CB, I love it. The defender obsession has engrossed me as well. Jeremy Jacquet is a top talent. I do question the profile, perhaps, though, after the Mosquera acquisition. Seems a bit overkill.”
Possible Arsenal sales mean defensive signings are needed
It’s fair to see why fans are slightly agitated by the latest links being to a defender, but when looking at the bigger picture, Arteta and Berta’s decision makes sense.
Arsenal have options at centre-back, but the list is by no means exhaustive, particularly when noting that Jakub Kiwior could leave this summer and Riccardo Calafiori is incredibly unreliable.
Depth was a huge issue for Arsenal last season as the gap in quality between first and second choice shone through.
The signing of Mosquera eases the situation slightly in central defence, but if Kiwior were to leave, then the issue would re-arise.
If attacking signings follow, it would be assumed that fans would have no complaints.
