Arsenal fans have leapt on the latest news coming from Portugal about Viktor Gyokeres.
It’s been an incredibly long road for Arsenal to land their dream striker, and at long last, Andrea Berta appeared to be making a breakthrough.
As Gyokeres made his desire to join Arsenal known, fans got excited by the prospect of signing a number nine with 97 goals over the previous two seasons.
As Berta travelled to Lisbon to discuss Gyokeres, a feeling of optimism surrounded the Emirates, but now, a nightmare scenario has been reported.
Portuguese media outlet A Bola claims that Arsenal are ready to walk away from negotiations with Sporting CP, who are standing firm on their asking price.
The talk of the deal possibly collapsing has left the Arsenal fanbase shaken, as seen on social media.

Arsenal fans react to ominous Viktor Gyokeres transfer update
There’s optimism that Gyokeres would be a success at Arsenal, but at present, it’s unclear whether the deal is possible.
When reacting to the news, there was one subject that Arsenal fans latched onto, and that was the Gunners’ talks with Chelsea over Noni Madueke.
“Can’t pay 5m for a top striker but want gift Chelsea 50m because we’re getting nothing in return,” a concerned fan said, quoting Madueke’s price tag.
“Rush paying 50 m to Chelsea why don’t you, joke of a club.”
“Giving up on him, but we’re actively after a Madueke who we don’t need.”
Another supporter claimed that the club must be ‘raving mad’ to pursue a mega deal for Madueke over prioritising Gyokeres.
“Arsenal must be raving mad to submit 50m for Noni, and are busy pricing Gyokeres like groceries. Do we need a striker or an average winger?”
Other fans simply aired their emotions, warning Arsenal not to ‘ruin’ the week ahead.
“Don’t ruin my week,” one said, as another echoed the feeling, “This is terrible.”
“If Arsenal fumbles the Gyokeres deal., I won’t be able to deal with that heartbreak.”
“Nooo…. this is unacceptable.”
Another supporter made it clear that they’re close to giving up.
“And I am about to give up on this club.”
Gyokeres concern is valid
If it’s a ready-made goalscorer that Arsenal need, then Gyokeres presents himself as a rare and bargain market opportunity.
It’s clear why Sporting have a higher valuation of their player than the Gunners, but for one of the world’s most clinical strikers, on Arsenal’s end, something has to give.
Arsenal prefer Gyokeres due to his experience of consistently scoring freely, so, from a fan’s point of view, frustration over stumbling blocks over price is valid.
A Bola’s report comes as a shock given that the deal was said to be progressing, but in this window, plenty of curveballs are thrown.
