Arsenal are expected to be really active in the final few weeks of the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have already signed David Raya and Riccardo Calafiori this summer, while a move for Mikel Merino is said to be in the works.

Arsenal have decided not to sign Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time.

The Nigeria international is expected to leave Napoli this summer. This has been the case since before the 2023/24 season ended, so it is a bit of a surprise that he is still there.

Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Osimhen, and many feel he would be an outstanding signing for the Gunners.

After Benjamin Sesko rejected a move to the Emirates, many Arsenal fans urged Arteta to sign Osimhen – that’s how much supporters wanted him.

Reports claimed recently that Arsenal are still in the running to sign Osimhen from Napoli, but it looks like that stance has changed.

Italian journalist Ciro Troise has revealed that the Gunners, along with fellow Premier League side Chelsea, have decided not to sign Osimhen this summer.

Troise told Radio Capri, as translated by SportWitness: “Osimhen? Nothing has changed. He reappears every now and then, but the situation is always the same.

“PSG doesn’t go beyond €70m and hasn’t sold Kolo Muani yet. While Chelsea and Arsenal have withdrawn.”

The striker Arsenal should sign instead of Osimhen

Osimhen is a ‘world-class‘ striker and he would strengthen any club. However, it looks like Arsenal have no interest in landing him this summer.

That doesn’t mean the Gunners don’t need to reinforce their attack – they definitely do.

A new striker could well prove to be the difference between winning the Premier League title and not in the 2024/25 season.

With Osimhen out of the picture, we think Arsenal should sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon.

The Swede scored 43 goals and provided 15 assists in the 2023/24 season. That’s more than every Arsenal player, and we think he would be a great fit at the Emirates.

As things stand, Gyokores is Arsenal’s most likely striker target, but it remains to be seen if the Gunners will make a move to sign him.
