Mikel Arteta could be on course to make Arsenal fans’ dreams come true, according to the latest transfer news.
The Gunners are in for a period of change in the near future as Arsenal look to replace Edu Gaspar.
Edu surprised Arteta by leaving his role as sporting director, leaving a legacy at Colney that stands for a wave of some star signings.
Arsenal will have to move on from the ways of the Brazilian’s work, with signings needing to be made both in January and next summer.

Arsenal could look to sign Matheus Cunha
Arsenal fans are desperate for the club to recruit a reliable goalscorer, which is something the former sporting director might have agreed with.
Edu left a five-man striker shortlist for Arsenal prior to his departure, opening the door to Arteta possibly signing a forward in the near future.
On the topic of possible goalscoring targets the Gunners could consider, Arsenal Insider spoke to transfer expert Graeme Bailey, who named one Premier League star.
“Arsenal want at least one new forward in 2025, but likely two and Matheus Cunha is someone they have on their radar,” Bailey said.
“Cunha is someone who the Premier League’s top clubs always liked from his Atletico Madrid days.
“His form now has seen most of them take an interest in his form, and Arsenal are included, as well as Manchester United.”
Cunha was compared to Dennis Bergkamp earlier this season, which is a strong sign of his suitability to Arsenal if Arteta is to take a further step forward in the transfer race.
How Cunha compares to Arsenal’s forwards
Cunha arrived at Wolves in January 2023 on an initial loan from Atletico Madrid, touching down in the Premier League carrying a goal-shy burden.
That couldn’t be further from the truth now, as the Brazilian has excelled at Molineux over the past year, hitting top form this season.
| Player | Apps | Goals | Assists |
| Matheus Cunha | 13 | 7 | 3 |
| Bukayo Saka | 12 | 5 | 10 |
| Gabriel Martinelli | 11 | 3 | 2 |
| Kai Havertz | 12 | 5 | 1 |
| Martin Odegaard | 6 | 1 | 2 |
| Leandro Trossard | 13 | 3 | 1 |
At this moment of 2024/25, the 25-year-old has outscored Arteta’s prized forwards in the Premier League, netting two more goals than Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz.
Unlike other Arsenal targets such as Viktor Gyokeres, Cunha is ready-made for the Premier League and has found a place to call home in the English top flight.
For that reason, Arteta could consider a swoop for the Brazil international as a low-risk transfer, a move with limited concern and incredibly high reward.
