Arsenal may opt to swoop for a striker in the upcoming January transfer window.
Kai Havertz has made a magnificent start to the season for Arsenal.
The German forward has now cemented himself as Mikel Arteta’s first choice to lead the line.
However, Havertz is carrying a knee injury now. He is expected to be fit in time for the end of the international break, but Arteta will be wary of aggravating his issue.
There would be concerns if the Gunners had to rely upon Gabriel Jesus to step up for a significant period in Havertz’s absence, too.
The Brazilian has been in abysmal form in front of goal for some time. Arsenal fans have criticised Jesus, who has plenty to prove if he is to establish himself as a regular starter for the North London club again.
On top of that, Jesus has had persistent injury issues of his own.
Arsenal eyeing Alexander Isak swoop
Given the relative frailty of his strikeforce, Arteta may well be keen to add a new goalscorer to his ranks this winter, or in the next summer transfer window at the very least.
There is now speculation that Arsenal may be about to reignite their interest in Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak.
As reported by talkSPORT, the Gunners are now on “red alert” when it comes to the Swedish striker’s situation.
The 25-year-old is still stalling on penning a new contract with the Magpies, fuelling concerns at St James’ Park that they may need to let him go.
As per the aforementioned report: “The Swede is demanding a pay packet making him Newcastle’s top earner, as well as a release clause, in order to commit his future.
“Arsenal have a long-standing interest in Isak, 25, and are expected to push to sign a new No.9 next summer.”
What Isak would bring to Arsenal
Isak has proven himself at Premier League level with Newcastle, and would suit Arteta’s style of play at the Emirates Stadium perfectly.
The 48-cap Sweden international offers both searing pace and real physicality, he is technically assured and dominant in the air, and willing to work hard off the ball to press and execute his defensive duties.
Arsenal fans would be excited to see Havertz and Isak going head to head for the right to be the Gunners’ main man up front.
