Arsenal now appear to be close to the signing of winger Raheem Sterling from Chelsea, and they will now let another player leave to make room for him.
Arsenal have already let Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira leave, whilst Eddie Nketiah is on the verge of a move to Crystal Palace.
This has left Arsenal short of attackers upfront, and Reiss Nelson looked set to stay when it appeared that no new player would arrive.
However, there has been a breakthrough in talks over Sterling, and the winger is closing in on a loan move. This will now enable Nelson to leave.
Nelson could not leave without Sterling arriving despite four clubs expressing interest in a loan deal, but Arsenal are now open to his exit, and one club is leading the race.

Ipswich Town in lead to sign Reiss Nelson on loan from Arsenal
It has now been reported that newly promoted side Ipswich Town are in advanced talks to sign Nelson on loan from Arsenal.
“Ipswich Town working on deal to sign Reiss Nelson from Arsenal. Ipswich very close to securing agreement with Arsenal and 24yo winger on season-long loan – no option or obligation to buy. Chance to depart helped by potential Raheem Sterling deal,” journalist David Ornstein posted on X.
“Ipswich Town in advanced talks to sign Reiss Nelson on loan from Arsenal! It can open the doors to Raheem Sterling to Arsenal from Chelsea,” Fabrizio Romano posted.
Arsenal can let Reiss Nelson leave if Raheem Sterling joins
Nelson does need regular game time after a season on the fringes of the squad, but before it became apparent that Sterling was joining, he would have been a crucial backup to keep at Arsenal.
However, Sterling arrives as a similar profile, and this will allow Nelson to leave on loan to play regularly.
If Nelson can impress at Ipswich in the Premier League with regular playing time, he may be able to return next year after his loan, and he faces an important season in his career.
