Arsenal stance on Mohamed Amoura revealed as Mikel Arteta chases forward options

Arsenal are desperate to bring in proven forward options in the summer transfer window although it is unlikely Mohamed Amoura falls into that bracket Arsenal Insider understands.

Amoura has impressed in the Bundesliga this season and is one of many forward options linked with a summer switch to the Emirates Stadium as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attack.

The Algerian international has scored 10 goals and provided nine assists this season for Wolfsburg as they push for a European spot next season.

Liverpool and Newcastle are also said to be among several Premier League clubs tracking Amoura but the Gunners are looking for the here and now rather than the future.

Arsenal stance on Mohamed Amoura revealed

Even without injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus this season, Arsenal have looked blunt in attack this season and more firepower is needed in order to compete for the biggest honours.

With 19 goal contributions, Amoura would certainly bring that to London however, it is unclear whether the 24-year-old is proven enough to make it to the top of Arteta’s wishlist.

TBR Football’s transfer expert Graeme Bailey has exclusively told Arsenal Insider that he believes Arsenal may be looking at bigger names in forward areas this summer.

Bailey stated: “I know a lot of Premier League clubs are looking at him, he’s done ok. I think all the forwards they bring in, likely two, they’re not signing projects here.

“I think the Arsenal forward signings are those who are ready to go. Does Amoura fit in that? It depends on how they view him.”

How Amoura compares with current Arsenal forward options

Amoura likes to play from the left in a front three at current club Wolfsburg, meaning he would be competing with the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard should he join the Gunners.

Martinelli or Trossard could be sold in the summer in order to raise funds for incomings and this season Amoura has outperformed the Gunners duo in a number of key areas.

Arsenal have historically looked to buy players just below the surface of the ‘world class’ bracket and develop them in their own way and Amoura could be just that type of signing.

However, with Arteta’s side having been on the cusp of something special for the last three season, it may be time to bring out the big guns in the transfer market.
