Arsenal ended the winter transfer window with no new signings or departures.
The Gunners were in desperate need of reinforcements in attack. A new striker was an absolute necessity, but the board did not deliver for Mikel Arteta.
That is a real shame and has already cost Arsenal the Carabao Cup. It remains to be seen if that will ruin their hopes in the Premier League and the Champions League as well.
To make things worse, Arsenal didn’t get their wish with respect to departures either in the winter transfer window.
Nobody bid for Oleksandr Zinchenko despite interest from two clubs
Oleksandr Zinchenko has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal.
The Ukraine international joined the club in the summer of 2022 and made a big difference. He played a huge part in helping the Gunners become title contenders.
However, over the last 18 months, Arteta has preferred other players over Zinchenko because of the former Manchester City man’s defensive struggles.
Now, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Riccardo Calafiori, Jakub Kiwior and even Kieran Tierney are ahead of him, while Jurrien Timber and Takehiro Tomiyasu have also been preferred over the Ukrainian.
Zinchenko was ready to leave Arsenal in the winter window, and the Gunners were even ready to sanction his sale.
Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund were interested in Zinchenko, but the Daily Mail claim that neither club followed that interest with a bid.
That is why Zinchenko is still at Arsenal.

Zinchenko could still leave Arsenal in the coming days
The transfer window in England closed on Monday night, but that is not the case everywhere else across the globe.
In Turkey, the window is open until the 11th of February, and that could be good news for Arsenal.
That’s because Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce have shown an interest in Zinchenko, and if they make a move, there’s every chance they can land him.
If that doesn’t happen, Zinchenko will surely leave at the end of this season when he will enter the final year of his Gunners contract.
Zinchenko, hailed as ‘unbelievable‘ by Kevin De Bruyne, is more than good enough to become a star at a different club.
