Arsenal will not sell ‘extraordinary’ star ‘on the cheap’ as interest from Euro giants grows

Arsenal are set to sell several fringe players this summer, but they will hold out for high transfer fees for a number of them.

It is a tough market for Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar to sell in, given the financial troubles relating to profit and sustainability rules affecting a number of Premier League sides.

Homegrown players such as Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah could move to Premier League sides, with their fees representing pure profit, but Arsenal may not wish to lower their valuations for other players.

With Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori reportedly closing in on a move to the Emirates, there could be outgoings from the back line, and one player who may end up leaving is Jakub Kiwior.

Jakub Kiwior will not be sold cheaply by Arsenal this summer

The Mirror have now reported that whilst there is interest in Kiwior from AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli, Arsenal will stand firm in their valuation of him, and will not sell him “on the cheap.”

Kiwior joined Arsenal from Spezia in January 2023 for around £20m, but only featured regularly for a few months last season.

The 24-year-old was described as “extraordinary” by Robert Lewandowski before his arrival at Arsenal, but whilst he has shown flashes of quality, he failed to establish himself as a starter when given the chance at left-back.

If Kiwior had shown that he was performing at left-back to the required level, he could have established himself as the starter in the position, and Calafiori may not have even been targeted.

Kiwior’s limitations as a left-back were exposed in the Champions League against Bayern Munich, and this was further highlighted at Euro 2024 as a speedy winger in Ousmane Dembele drew a penalty from the Arsenal star.

The defender is open to a return to Serie A, and given that he will not usurp Gabriel Magalhaes from centre-back, now may be the best time to sell as his potential for regular game time is low, and interest in him is currently high.
