Arsenal have entered the race to sign Morgan Rogers this summer, but their move for Aston Villa now depends on squad balance and player trading.

Andrea Berta is prioritising the signing of another top attacker at Arsenal this summer, and Rogers is one of the names near the top of his list.

Mikel Arteta is believed to be a big fan of the 23-year-old, and work has already commenced on attempting to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.

However, given how expensive a move will be for the England international and the size of their squad, work will need to be done on offloading players to make room.

Arsenal’s move for Morgan Rogers depends on squad balance and player sales

Arsenal’s move to sign Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers depends on squad balance and player sales, according to The Athletic.

The Gunners need to make sales this summer to help balance the books following last summer’s transfer spend, in which there was an outlay of around £260 million.

Berta has been tasked with selling players this summer to help bring in new additions to improve the team’s chances of winning back-to-back league titles.

If Arsenal can offload either Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard, then a move for Rogers would become highly likely.

But given the fact that Villa want £80 million for Rogers, it means that selling players is going to be a necessity.

Morgan Rogers would be perfect for Arsenal

Arsenal think Rogers’ versatility would be a great asset, given the fact that he can play through the middle or on the left wing.

A priority for Arteta’s team this summer is a left winger, and Rogers would certainly be an interesting option, given his last two seasons.

Last season, the Villa attacker produced 14 goals and 12 assists, including a goal and assist in the Europa League final.

Rogers is ‘very excited’ about joining Arsenal, and this summer he will have Bukayo Saka, Madueke, Declan Rice and Eberechi Eze all in his ear during the World Cup.
