Arsenal have now made their stance on the future of Aaron Ramsdale clear, as the player’s own wishes have emerged.
Aaron Ramsdale’s career has stalled somewhat.
The Arsenal goalkeeper lost his starting berth at the Emirates Stadium last season, following the arrival of David Raya on a season-long loan move from Brentford.
Arsenal signed Raya on a permanent basis this summer, and the Euro 2024 winner will be Mikel Arteta’s first choice pick between the sticks heading into the new campaign. As things stand, Ramsdale is staring down the barrel of another season on the bench.
The 26-year-old has impressed for the Gunners in the past, and has proven himself at Premier League level. At this stage in his career, the 5-cap England star needs to be playing regularly, for the good of his international prospects, if nothing else.
Clearly, Ramsdale is not going to be afforded the game time he needs by the Gunners, and as such has now made a clear decision about his future.

Arsenal and Aaron Ramsdale both take clear positions on potential transfer
According to talkSPORT, Ramsdale has now made it clear that he wishes to move on from North London this summer.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will consider allowing the former Sheffield United man to leave on loan, if a buyer does not come forward with a suitable offer.
Certainly, another season spent as a back up would only see Ramsdale lose further value in the market. By contrast, if he were to impress over the course of a loan spell away from the club, then the Gunners would stand a greater chance of fetching a better fee for him next summer.
What Arsenal must do this summer if Ramsdale leaves
However, allowing Ramsdale to leave this summer, be it on a permanent or temporary arrangement, would still create a problem for Arteta, as the Gunners would be left without a back up for Raya.
Arsenal have made an effort to sign Dan Bentley, but the plan for the Wolves man is for him to provide a third choice option at the Emirates Stadium, rather than replace Ramsdale in the pecking order.
There are a number of other goalkeepers that Arsenal might consider moving for to directly replace Ramsdale this summer, if he is moved on.
