Movement is expected in the summer transfer window regarding Ben White’s future at Arsenal.

White hasn’t played for Arsenal in almost a month, picking up another injury that has kept him away from the squad.

It’s a dire shame, as everyone knows what White can offer to Arsenal when he is fit, but we’re just not seeing enough of him.

It’s not only injuries, but Mikel Arteta’s tactical preferences too, with both factors limiting the defender to just seven Premier League appearances this season.

All things considered, it comes as no surprise to learn that it’s a real possibility that White leaves Arsenal in the summer.

Ben White Arsenal transfer exit update

Arsenal are already looking at right-backs ahead of the summer transfer window, which is an indicator that White’s time in North London could soon be up.

That appears to be the case, as Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth explained on Sky’s Transfer Talk podcast.

“With regard to Ben White, we ran a report on Sky Sports News, actually, as early as January. We knew it wasn’t going to move in January.

“But the feeling was that there are a number of clubs who are already looking at Ben White for a potential summer transfer,” Sheth explained.

The journalist elaborated on the idea of White leaving in the January window, noting that Arteta wanted to keep his squad together, but that narrative is set to change in the summer.

“Mikel Arteta wants to keep as much of that squad together as possible, because now, with them fighting on all four fronts, he’s going to need every single player in his squad.

“But I do expect some sort of movement with Ben White in the summer.”

At 28, White needs to be playing regularly, as he still has so much to give, but it’s become abundantly clear that his route to doing so is not at Arsenal.

Since making 37 league appearances in the 2023/24 season, the right-back has only played 24 times in the league.

Jurrien Timber is undroppable in Arteta’s eyes, and the Dutchman’s position in the starting XI is not under threat, which is why White’s minutes aren’t set to increase any time soon.

The summer feels like the right time to offload White, which is a painful scenario to envisage, given what a superb servant he’s been to the club.
