According to CalcioMercato.it, Serie A giants Juventus have now joined the race to sign Arsenal star Granit Xhaka following his spectacular performance for Switzerland in the Euros last night.

The 28-year-old started against France yesterday and he was the best player on the pitch. He led his country to a memorable win against the world champions, and his performance impressed everyone in the footballing world.

Could Juventus beat Roma for Granit Xhaka?

Jose Mourinho’s Roma have been heavily linked with a move for Xhaka for a while now. A deal even looked imminent at one point, but the Giallorossi are refusing to meet Arsenal’s demands and Edu is standing firm.

That could potentially backfire now. Roma’s Serie A rivals Juventus have reportedly joined the race to sign Xhaka, and if the recently dethroned Italian giants really want him, they should be able to get him.

Juve had a torrid campaign last season and they will do everything to get back to the top. Manuel Locatelli is their priority this summer, but a move for the Italian is proving to be difficult to complete.

As a result, they’ve turned their attention to Xhaka, whose performance yesterday seems to have convinced the Old Lady that he is the right man for them.

Can Arsenal start a bidding war for Granit Xhaka now?

Reports have claimed in recent weeks that Arsenal have slapped a £17.2 million (€20m) price tag on Xhaka’s head. That annoyed Gooners, who feel that the Swiss international is worth a lot more than that.

Xhaka, labelled as ‘outstanding’ by Roy Keane, had a very good individual season for Arsenal and his performances for Switzerland have been incredible as well. Roma trying to bring the price down didn’t impress anyone, and with Juventus now in the frame, the Giallorossi are no longer the favourites.

After a performance as good as last night’s, Xhaka’s stock should have gone up. If he can replicate a similar display against Spain, many more clubs will join the race to sign him, and the Gunners can start a war between interested parties to drive his price up.

The pressure is on Edu now to get the best deal. Xhaka wants to leave Arsenal and we need to raise funds. His brilliant performances and Juventus’ interest is excellent news for us, and hopefully, we can get some good money for him in the coming weeks.
