Arsenal are in the market for an attacker this winter as pressure mounts on Mikel Arteta on the injury front.

The campaign has not unfolded as desired for Arsenal, who sit six points off the summit and are currently in an injury crisis.

Arteta has rarely experienced such an injury-laden period in north London, with the attack suffering the most at present.

Bukayo Saka’s injury was a massive blow for the Gunners, with the winger set for an extended period on the sidelines due to a hamstring tear.

Arsenal transfer news: Kang-in Lee targeted

Arsenal are far less effective without Saka, who offers so much to the Gunners, who generate a lot of threat down the right side.

In his absence, such spark was lost and then temporarily found, as Ethan Nwaneri emerged as Saka’s replacement.

Now, Nwaneri is set for weeks on the sidelines due to his own injury troubles, turning Arteta to the transfer market to find a solution.

The Athletic have now provided an update on Arsenal’s transfer options this month, with a new name said to be ‘under discussion’ at Colney.

That name is Paris Saint-Germain winger Kang-in Lee, who is said to be ‘considering his options’ despite being a player rated by Luis Enrique.

It’s said that the winger is ‘open to a new challenge’ although, PSG aren’t ‘actively looking’ to offload the attacker.

The Athletic states that the Korean is ‘well known to Arsenal’, making him a possible transfer target for this month.

Being a left-footed forward, deployable in central midfield and on the right flank, the PSG star could be the answer to Arteta’s woes regarding Saka’s absence.

How much would Arsenal have to pay for Kang-in Lee?

Like any transfer, there are some issues with a possible deal being completed, with the biggest stumbling block at present being his price tag.

The Athletic’s report says that the player’s current price is ‘off-putting’ to Arsenal but, the instance of an initial loan with an option to buy could arouse the Gunners.

There’s an understanding that PSG would expect ‘at least double’ of the €22m they paid for the forward in 2023, signalling a potential asking price.

It remains to be seen whether the Gunners will up their pursuit of the player, who could certainly offer Arteta something Arsenal need desperately right now.
