Spanish side Real Sociedad are now interested in signing Kieran Tierney on a permanent deal from Arsenal next summer when his loan ends.

That’s according to a report by TEAMtalk who claim that Sociedad are willing to pay up to £30m to secure Tierney’s services from Arsenal.

Tierney is currently out with an injury whilst on loan, but is now said to be ahead of schedule in his recovery.

And given how the full-back was impressing before that problem, he has clearly earned some admirers in the Basque Country.

Given Arsenal were willing to let Tierney leave on loan this summer, it would be a surprise if they stood in the way of a permanent deal.

Moreover, at the fee mentioned, and avoiding selling Tierney to a rival, it could prove a perfect opportunity for an exit.

Although currently injured, Jurrien Timber looks to have already replaced the role that Tierney was fulfilling at Arsenal.

And given his ready-made ability to invert, Timber already looks like a player better suited to Arteta’s plans.

Of course, Jurrien Timber’s return already can’t come soon enough for The Gunners.

Although Granit Xhaka has been missed since departing this season, Timber’s absence has been felt even more.

Despite being so early in his Arsenal career, the full-back gave Arteta so much versatility across his back line.

Even allowing the idea of Oleksandr Zinchenko moving into a midfield role.

That being said, it’s clear why Arsenal would probably be willing to let Tierney leave permanently in a deal to Real Sociedad.

A player who won the affection of Arsenal fans with his brilliant mentality and performances, but one Mikel Arteta’s project surprisingly outgrew.

Nonetheless, Socided would be recruiting an excellent player in the Scot if a deal can be concluded.

And had this interest come a few years earlier, the asking price for ‘fantastic’ Tierney would undoubtedly have been a lot higher.
