Arsenal are expected to be active again when the summer transfer window opens.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Gunners want to sign a new midfielder, a winger and a right-back before the start of next season, and Andrea Berta is already working on potential options.
One player linked with a move to Arsenal is Leon Goretzka, and he is said to have changed his mind about a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Leon Goretzka to Arsenal on a free transfer in the summer – who says no?
Leon Goretzka would love to join Arsenal this summer
Arsenal were suddenly in need of a new midfielder in the final days of the January transfer window.
Mikel Merino suffered a season-ending foot injury and had to undergo surgery. The Spaniard’s absence was viewed as a big blow internally, and Mikel Arteta demanded a replacement.
Berta had a look at the market, and reports revealed at the time that Arsenal enquired about signing Goretzka from Bayern Munich.
However, the 2020 Champions League winner was not open to a move because he had given his word to Bayern that he would stay until the end of the season.

Now, Goretzka has changed his mind.
On the Bayern Insider podcast, when asked if Arsenal are leading the race to sign the midfielder, Christian Falk said: “This is true, from the Leon Goretzka view because they made no offer in January, but they said ‘hey, we heard you are thinking about a transfer?’
“There were very concrete talks with Atletico Madrid. The Sporting Director was in Munich. But the idea of Leon Goretzka would be to go to the Premier League.
“He would love to play for Arsenal, but at the moment, you don’t know if Arsenal are coming again with a concrete offer.”
Imagine you are Andrea Berta. Who is your top target for Arsenal in the summer transfer window?
Arsenal’s games against Wolves and Brighton showed why they need Leon Goretzka
Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by Wolves and then secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Brighton recently.
The common theme in those two games, especially in the final 30 minutes, was that the Gunners had no control of the tempo, and they kept giving the ball away.
Arsenal need an experienced midfielder who can change that. Someone like Jorginho would’ve been perfect, but he is no longer an option.
Goretzka is a more forward-minded player than the former Arsenal number 20, but we think his experience and composure will make a big difference in such fixtures.
Add the fact that he will be available on a free transfer this summer, and we think it is a no-brainer for Arsenal to sign Goretzka.
