Club chief speaks out on Arsenal transfer target future as star striker is back on Mikel Arteta’s radar

A striker transfer is a topic of hot conversation heading into the January transfer window, with Arsenal keen on strengthening over the coming month.

With the Gunners struggling for open-play goals this season, their lack of forward options that can change a game is becoming costly.

While Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard can drag the team through some games, there are struggles when they are totally shut out.

That’s where several transfer links have appeared, most particularly claiming Arsenal want to sign a striker in the near future.

It remains to be seen exactly who the Gunners could go and sign, but one option that Mikel Arteta eyed before could be back on the cards.

Arsenal interested in Dusan Vlahovic transfer

Arsenal were linked with a move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic back in 2022, with the side hoping to add the striker from Fiorentina.

It didn’t quite work out that way, with the Serbian international making the move to Serie A giants Juventus instead.

Since then, the striker has made over 120 appearances in Italy with over 60 goal involvements for the Bianconeri.

Despite that, uncertainty clouds his future with Juventus as reports from SpazioJ claim that Arsenal are showing interest in Dusan Vlahovic once again.

It’s uncertain whether a move could be completed, though Juventus chief Cristiano Giuntoli has recently discussed his future.

Juventus chief breaks silence on Dusan Vlahovic’s contract

Vlahovic signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Juventus when he made the switch in January 2022.

That contract hasn’t been extended since, which means he is approaching the final year with the club – with an expiration of 2026.

It has put further doubt and questions over the future of the Arsenal transfer target, with a possible sale on the cards if an extension can’t be reached.

Cristiano Giuntoli, the Juventus sporting director, discussed the situation in a pre-match press conference.

He said: “The relationship with him and his agent is extraordinary. He still has a year left on his contract, we’ll see each other after the transfer market. There’s still time to sort things out and move forward in the best possible way.”

It suggests a positive move towards a possible renewal, as well as the intent to keep Vlahovic beyond the January transfer window.

That means any deal may well have to be conducted in the summer instead of over the winter if it does happen.

Dusan Vlahovic stats since snubbing Arsenal

Vlahovic snubbed an Arsenal transfer in 2022, with his move to Juventus sparking some frustration for the Gunners.

The move has had some relative success, even if he hasn’t hit the explosive heights of Erling Haaland as a comparison.

Whether those types of scoring stats would translate, and improve, in the Premier League remains to be seen.

However, it’s clear that the Gunners are shouting out for something different in their forward line.
