Eddie Nketiah transfer update emerges amid Nottingham Forest ‘talks’ as Arsenal firm on asking price

Eddie Nketiah could be on the verge of bidding farewell to Arsenal after nearly a decade on the club’s books.

Eddie Nketiah fell down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium last season and clearly does not feature heavily in Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and perhaps even Leandro Trossard, are all preferred options to lead the line for Arsenal. Therefore, there is almost no chance of Nketiah getting the game time he requires with the Gunners.

Nketiah is keen to leave Arsenal in this summer transfer window, and Arteta is unlikely to stand in his way.

Arsenal want to make a significant sale, similar in scale to the deal that saw Emile Smith Rowe exit the club earlier this summer. The funds raised from this departure will be put towards offsetting the costs of signing Mikel Merino.

If the North London outfit get their full asking price for Nketiah, then his exit would go a long way towards covering the full costs of the Spanish midfielder.

David Ornstein gives Arsenal fans update on Eddie Nketiah to Nottingham Forest deal

Nottingham Forest are keen on Nketiah, and have been pushing to secure his signature.

Nketiah’s wages posed a problem, but it would now appear that that issue is expected to be overcome.

According to journalist David Ornstein, reporting on X, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest are on the verge of agreeing a deal for the striker.

The Midlands outfit have already seen a £25 million bid for the player knocked back. The Gunners are demanding a fee in the region of £30-35 million, and it would seem that they are set to get their wish.

Meanwhile, “talks” over personal terms are progressing, with an agreement likely to be reached.

Will Arsenal replace Nketiah?

Arsenal have been in the market for a striker this summer, but have so far been unable to bolster their attacking contingent. It will be fascinating to see if any of the funds raised by Nketiah’s sale will be diverted into the pursuit of a new goalscorer.

However, unless the Gunners are willing to spend big in that part of the pitch, they are unlikely to source a player capable of immediately usurping the likes of Havertz and Jesus.
