Arsenal are closing in on one of their long-standing summer transfer targets.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have sent an official bid to Leicester City for Jeremy Monga, with the deal now moving quickly and optimism growing that the agreement can be finalised.

“Arsenal sent official bid to Leicester City to get Jeremy Monga deal done,” Romano wrote on X.

“16-year-old winger keen on joining Arsenal and deal moving quickly now with optimism to sign Leicester talent, seen as huge prospect for the future.”

The Premier League champions have been working on this deal behind the scenes for months.

Personal terms were agreed two weeks ago, with Monga choosing Arsenal over interest from a number of clubs including Manchester City.

Signing Jeremy Monga is part of a much bigger plan at Arsenal

It is another example of sporting director Andrea Berta focusing on futureproofing the squad by signing exciting, high-ceiling young talent.

The Quintero twins, Victor Ozhianvuna, and Jaden Dixon have all jumped on board at the Gunners as part of the same strategy.

Should the deal be completed, Arsenal would boast the three youngest players in Premier League history all on their books simultaneously — Ethan Nwaneri, Max Dowman and Monga.

Dowman is a close friend of Monga’s, having played together on multiple occasions for England at youth level. The pair could soon be club teammates as well as international colleagues.

Monga, who has been compared to Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr, has already made seven Premier League appearances for Leicester, making his top-flight debut at just 15 years and 271 days old.

With Morgan Rogers also having made his clear preference for a move to the Emirates, the club are focusing on bringing in both immediate quality and long-term project signings.
