Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has given an update surrounding the future of Kieran Tierney at Arsenal amid links with a return to Celtic.
It comes following a torrid few years for the defender, where injuries have largely hampered his time at the Emirates Stadium.
Once one of the main stars at Arsenal, the left-back lost his place with a tactical tweak to the system, while his availability, or lack thereof, also impacted his place in the pecking order.
Mikel Arteta changed his system, adding in plenty of fresh faces at full-back, while Kieran Tierney was sent out on loan.
The Scotland international showed some bright sparks at Real Sociedad before he returned to the Gunners in the summer, following a serious injury on international duty.
His recent return brought about a glimmer of hope that he could make an impact, though his future seems to be further and further away from Arsenal.

Kieran Tierney from Arsenal to Celtic transfer latest
With his dwindling influence at the club, Arsenal have decided against trigger a contract extension for Tierney.
It means the defender is free to leave in the coming summer, while a pre-contract agreement can be struck as of January with clubs abroad.
With that in mind, Tierney has been linked with a transfer return to Celtic, having previously impressed while playing for his boyhood club.
With rumours persisting over a potential deal, Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the situation.
The transfer expert has revealed that negotiations are underway surrounding a potential switch for Tierney to return to Celtic.
Discussions are claimed to be held, though it’s unclear exactly what the demands may be from both the club and the player over a move this January.
What it does suggest, however, is that a move is firmly on the cards not just for the end of the season, but for this month.

Arsenal face Kieran Tierney transfer dilemma
The one thing that may impact Arsenal’s thinking surrounding Tierney and a possible exit will surround the finances of such a deal.
As the Gunners appear happy to let the full-back leave in the summer, any fee could well come as a potential boost to the transfer pot.
However, the covering of wages could be a problem that lasts longer than the contract itself, if Celtic or any club do look for some help in funding the deal.
It remains to be seen exactly what offer is on the table for both the club and the player, with anything better than a free transfer likely to be a net positive for the Gunners.
With plenty of cover at left-back, Arsenal could free up some vital space and funds in the coming month.
