Fabrizio Romano reveals what Arsenal are planning to do now after Aston Villa demand £130m for Morgan Rogers

It was always common knowledge that Arsenal target Morgan Rogers would cost a fortune this summer.

Aston Villa are in the Champions League this season, and Unai Emery’s side are desperate not to lose their star attacker.

That is why the Villans have slapped a £130 million price tag on Rogers, which would break the British transfer record if a deal were to go through at that price.

Arsenal, however, aren’t ready to just meet those demands.

Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal are planning to be ‘creative’ to sign Morgan Rogers

Morgan Rogers is Arsenal’s top target this summer.

The Gunners are looking for a big upgrade on their left wing, and although Bradley Barcola is on Andrea Berta’s list, the Aston Villa man is the preferred option.

There was never a real chance that Arsenal would be able to sign Rogers on the cheap. He is one of the best players in the Premier League and is a potential superstar.

Villa are within their rights to demand £130 million, but Arsenal’s plan is to strike a different kind of agreement that would suit them more.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who said in his YouTube video: “For Arsenal, the number one option remains Morgan Rogers.

“For Morgan Rogers, the information in England from The Telegraph is correct. So Aston Villa want to put a price of around £130 million to let Morgan Rogers leave this summer.

“Aston Villa are aware of Arsenal’s interest. Aston Villa are also aware of interest from other clubs, including Chelsea. But in this moment, Arsenal made very good progress on the player’s side for some time. And so, Arsenal keep pushing for Morgan Rogers.

“For Morgan Rogers, this depends on the price because Aston Villa want £130 million, but Arsenal hope to find a way to negotiate –  maybe with add-ons, maybe with a different structure. Arsenal hope to be creative in order to find a solution for Morgan Rogers.”

Could Arsenal tempt Aston Villa with a swap deal offer for Morgan Rogers?

£130 million is a lot of money, and Arsenal are right to think of a creative way to get the deal over the line.

A flexible payment structure and the use of add-ons are well and good, but neither option is going to bring the price down.

What could do that, however, is a potential player-plus-cash deal.

Aston Villa are said to be interested in signing Leandro Trossard this summer, while Unai Emery is reported to be an admirer of Gabriel Martinelli as well.

If Arsenal can squeeze one or both of those players into a deal to bring in Rogers, it would be a really smart piece of business from Berta.
