Arsenal have a lot of work to do in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners did nothing in January and that decision backfired horribly. Arsenal are now set to be striker-less until the end of the campaign, which is a big blow.
A new number nine is an absolute priority in the summer, while Mikel Arteta needs a wide player and potentially two new midfielders too as Jorginho and Thomas Partey could be released.
All eyes will be on the striker, and there is now some good news coming Arsenal’s way regarding one of their key targets.
Fabrizio Romano shares Benjamin Sesko to Arsenal transfer update
Arsenal have been keen to sign Benjamin Sesko for a long time.
The Gunners have kept an eye on him for over a year now, and they even tried to sign him before the start of this season.
But, Sesko rejected Arsenal last summer and decided to sign a new contract at RB Leipzig.
Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Arsenal actually made contact with the ‘unstoppable‘ Slovenia international in January, but a move was not possible.
However, the Gunners still have him on their list and Arteta’s side could even be the favourites to land him – even though Barcelona and Chelsea have repeatedly sent scouts to watch him over the last few weeks.
Romano said in a video on his YouTube channel: “A player we will mention a lot in the summer is Benjamin Sesko. Sesko remains 100 per cent on the list at Arsenal.
“He is one of the players who made the list. We know the dream target is Alexander Isak, but they also have Benjamin Sesko very high, at the same level, on their list.”
The journalist then added: “Sesko remains a strong option for Arsenal, but they aren’t the only ones. More clubs are following the player and are interested in the player.
“For example, Chelsea and Barcelona have sent their scouts multiple times in the last six-seven weeks to follow Sesko.
“But Arsenal are still there, Arsenal made contact in January, Arsenal remain interested in the player and Arsenal could be the favourite to land Benjamin Sekso.”
How much will Sesko cost Arsenal in the summer?
Arsenal’s dream target is Isak, but the Swede will cost an absolute fortune this summer.
Newcastle United have no interest in selling their star striker, so any deal will have to be massive. Reports have claimed that Isak will cost £150 million, which is just crazy.
Thankfully for Arsenal, Sesko will cost less than half of that.
Reports have claimed that Sesko’s release clause has been set at €70million (£57.7m), but it could go up to €90 million (£66m) depending on performances.
Even at £66 million, Sesko offers more value than Isak, and we think Arsenal should go and get him this summer.
