Manchester City are currently more active in the transfer window than Arsenal.
Pep Guardiola’s side have had a shocking season so far. They are 12 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool despite playing a game more than the Reds.
Arsenal haven’t had a great season either – they are six points off the top and are in serious need of reinforcements in the ongoing transfer window.
However, as things stand, everything is quiet at the Emirates, but Manchester City are showing their ambition by starting conversations to sign multiple players.
Manchester City begin talks to sign Arsenal target Vitor Reis
Vitor Reis is one of the most talented young defenders in the world.
The teenager, who plays for Palmeiras in Brazil, is widely viewed as the next big player to come out of South America, and he has been a target for several top clubs.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Reis, with reports claiming that the Gunners were even ready to make an official bid to sign him.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side have been quiet in this window, and that has allowed Manchester City and Guardiola to make their move.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that talks are underway between City and Palmeiras over a deal for Reis. The defending Premier League champions have even tabled a bid to sign him.
The journalist tweeted: “Manchester City have opened talks to sign Palmeiras centre-back Vitor Reis. Mission ongoing in Brazil for direct meeting with initial proposal worth around €40m package. Negotiations underway.”
In another post, Romano added: “Manchester City mission for Vitor Reis, ongoing in Brazil. Even today and in the next hours/days. 18-year-old Brazilian centre-back is a key target after Brighton and more clubs had bids rejected. Man City are working on it strong, €40m package. Talks on. Deal on.”
Reis has been described as a ‘complete, dominant and elegant’ centre-back’ by Football Talent Scout, and we’re convinced he will become a star under Guardiola if he joins Manchester City.

Arsenal have a big lesson to learn from Manchester City
Arsenal’s results over the last two months haven’t been as bad as those of Manchester City, but they still haven’t been good enough.
City have recognised their need for reinforcements. They have been active on the market since it opened and are in talks to sign three players already – Reis, Abdukodir Khusanov and Omar Marmoush.
That shows incredible ambition and explains why Guardiola’s men have won the Premier League title in five of the last six seasons.
There’s a lesson for Arsenal to learn here. Preferring to do most of the business in the summer is understandable, but when the situation demands a change of plan, the club should be ready to act.
Arsenal need to show that they are as serious as Manchester City and the only way they can do that right now is by diving into the market and bringing in a top-class player in the coming days.
