Myles Lewis-Skelly has been linked with a move away from Arsenal in January; however, Fabrizio Romano has shut down talk of a potential exit.
It’s been a tough season for Lewis-Skelly, who has not had much game time at Arsenal, having yet to start a single Premier League match.
Subsequently, Lewis-Skelly has been linked with a loan move away, but Mikel Arteta is adamant that the teenager will stay.
His importance to the squad was highlighted away at Chelsea as Arsenal were able to take off Riccardo Calafiori, who was on a booking, and replace him with the youngster.

Myles Lewis-Skelly is a ‘really important’ member of Arsenal’s squad
Myles Lewis-Skelly will certainly not be leaving the Emirates Stadium anytime soon, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Rather surprisingly, Lewis-Skelly has been linked with a move across London, with Chelsea reportedly showing an interest, but the Blues look set to be disappointed in their pursuit.
The Italian journalist does not understand where the rumours originated from and has made it clear that the defender remains a key member of the Gunners’ squad.
Commenting on the rumours, Romano told his YouTube channel: “Forget about that. Lewis-Skelly is Arsenal. Arsenal are very happy with Lewis-Skelly, and they are not considering parting ways.
Mikel Arteta views Myles Lewis-Skelly as a ‘really important player’ at Arsenal
“Lewis-Skelly is seen as a really, really, really important part of the squad. Super appreciated by Arteta. I don’t know where these rumours are always coming from, constantly about Lewis-Skelly, but he’s part of the project.”
Arsenal’s squad depth has improved considerably, so it would be silly of the Gunners to throw that away by allowing one of their key defenders to leave.
Meanwhile, given Calafiori’s poor injury record, there is every chance Lewis-Skelly may need to step up at some stage soon.
Myles Lewis-Skelly struggled against Chelsea, winning just two duels
Although away at Chelsea, Lewis-Skelly struggled, winning just two of the seven duels he contested against the West Londoners.
The defender was pitted against Alejandro Garnacho, who was also introduced at half-time, and it proved a tough battle for him.
He wasn’t the only Arsenal player who struggled, as Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera also looked shaky starting together for the first time in the league.
How do you feel about the partnership of Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera after Chelsea draw?
The two defenders will need to quickly fix up as they face an in-form Igor Thiago when Brentford arrive in N5 on Wednesday evening.
The Brazilian striker has 11 goals in 13 Premier League matches and is sure to be a handful for the Gunners’ new defensive pairing.
