Myles Lewis-Skelly’s future at Arsenal has suddenly become a hot topic of conversation.
The teenager burst onto the scene in the 2024/25 campaign and became Mikel Arteta’s first-choice left-back.
Lewis-Skelly produced a number of incredible performances for the Gunners, even against massive teams like Real Madrid and Manchester City.
That led to everyone believing that he would keep his place in the side this season, but Arteta has had other ideas.

How Arsenal will react if Myles Lewis-Skelly asks to leave on loan
Myles Lewis-Skelly has dropped down Arteta’s pecking order at Arsenal.
The Englishman is now behind both Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie at left-back, which is a real shame as he hasn’t done much wrong.
Lewis-Skelly has been limited to just four starts in all competitions as a result, and that has led to Thomas Tuchel dropping him from the England squad.
With the World Cup coming up next summer, the 19-year-old knows that he needs to play to get on the plane to North America.
That has resulted in talk about a potential loan move in the January transfer window, but Arsenal are not going to consider that.
That’s according to Sami Mokbel, who said on The Highbury Squad: “Of course, there will be clubs who will be sensing an opportunity. They absolutely will. And they will perhaps try to use the World Cup as a motivating factor to perhaps maybe seed a niggle of doubt in Myles Lewis-Skelly’s head come January.
“But my understanding at the moment, I don’t know if this will change closer to January, if Myles Lewis-Skelly does go out and tell Arsenal that he wants them to consider a potential loan move…
“Touch wood it doesn’t happen to Riccardo Calafiori, because he’s having a fantastic season, but given his previous injury record, from what I understand, Arsenal would loathe to even consider letting him (Lewis-Skelly) go.”
Should Arsenal send Myles Lewis-Skelly out on loan to help his World Cup dream?
It is clear that Lewis-Skelly needs minutes at Arsenal to have the best chance of making the England World Cup squad.
The teenager is arguably the best left-back available to Tuchel, but the Three Lions boss has made it clear on more than one occasion that Lewis-Skelly needs to be playing more games.
That is why a loan move would personally make sense for the Hale End graduate, but Arsenal would be silly to let him go.
Calafiori’s injury history is a concern, while Hincapie has also spent some time on the sidelines already this season. Those two players will be required to play in the heart of the defence if something happens to Gabriel Magalhaes as well.
For that reason, Arsenal are right to not even consider a loan move for Lewis-Skelly, even if it means he will miss out on his dream of going to the World Cup in 2026.
