Viktor Gyokeres’ future at Arsenal has become a hot topic of discussion lately.
The Swede only joined the Gunners last summer, scored over 20 goals in his debut season and helped them win the Premier League title.
Yet, there are rumours that Gyokeres could be used in a swap deal to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid in this window.
Fabrizio Romano has now had his say on the situation.
Arsenal can only sign Julian Alvarez if one of Viktor Gyokeres or Kai Havertz leaves. Who would you sell?
Fabrizio Romano says many top clubs have called Arsenal to enquire about Viktor Gyokeres
Regardless of people’s opinion, Gyokeres is an elite striker.
The Swede is no Thierry Henry, but he is a hard worker, constantly makes space for his teammates, and he is very clinical in front of goal.
Such a centre-forward is hard to find in today’s market, which is why many clubs across the continent are interested in signing him.
After the swap deal rumours emerged, Romano acknowledged Atletico Madrid’s interest in Gyokeres but claimed they aren’t the only side.
However, Arsenal are not showing any interest in selling him, as things stand.

Romano said in his YouTube video: “I can tell you that Atletico Madrid are not the only club trying to understand the situation of Viktor Gyokeres.
“There have already been important top clubs asking about the availability of Viktor Gyokeres for this summer transfer window, already in May and the beginning of June. But the answer from Arsenal was always: ‘We want to keep the player. We believe in the player, and Viktor Gyokeres is part of our project.’
“So Arsenal are not opening the doors for an exit. Then obviously, if something big comes to the table, we will see later this summer.
“But at the moment, the answer received by all the top clubs asking about Viktor Gyokeres has always been the same, and it’s been ‘we want to keep the player, and we want to trust Viktor Gyokeres’.”

Arsenal’s stance on Viktor Gyokeres is spot on
Arsenal are right not to make Gyokeres available for a transfer.
The Sweden international showed serious signs of improvement since the turn of 2026, and he is having a very good World Cup as well.
Andrea Berta is well aware of that, so he is not making it easy for any top club to think they can sign Gyokeres in this window.
However, as Romano claimed, if a massive offer arrives on the table, we’re sure there will be a conversation behind the scenes at Arsenal.
Until then, Gyokeres is an important player for Arsenal, and every interested club must understand that.
