The transfer market will begin to gather pace in the final days and hours of the summer window.

Arsenal are expecting to get some last minute business done in terms of both sales and arrivals.

Aaron Ramsdale looks set to leave Arsenal before the window closes, with Southampton having negotiated a deal for the out-of-favour goalkeeper.

Mikel Arteta will need to immediately and directly replace the shot-stopper, though, as as things stand he is the only one able to offer back up to David Raya in the first team squad.

On top of that, Eddie Nketiah will join Crystal Palace very soon. The Hale End academy graduate has been a bit-part player at the Emirates Stadium for some time, and clearly doesn’t feature heavily in the manager’s plans.

At this stage in his career, the once-capped England striker needs to be playing regular football, and he stands a great chance of establishing himself as a key player at Selhurst Park.

Nketiah was recently given permission to undergo a medical ahead of this move, and now this deal is set to take another step closer to completion.

Fabrizio Romano provides update on Eddie Nketiah transfer

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, reporting on X, has recently stated that progress toward’s Nketiah’s official exit will be made in a matter of hours.

The journalist stated: “Crystal Palace and Arsenal are prepared to sign all documents today for Eddie Nketiah deal.”

He then revealed some of the financial details of the deal: “£25m fixed fee, £5m add-ons.”

The funds raised from this sale will be used by Arsenal to offset the cost of Mikel Merino, who was recently signed from Real Sociedad.

Meanwhile, the debate as to whether or not the Gunners need to bring in a new striker before Transfer Deadline Day reaches its climax shall continue to rage.

Will Arsenal replace Eddie Nketiah?

The money that Arsenal will make from selling Nketiah is already accounted for by Merino, who will play a key role for Arteta’s side in the middle of the park this season.

However, with Gabriel Jesus now injured, Arsenal’s attacking contingent is looking worryingly light. This situation has led to the club being suddenly linked with a number of potential acquisitions in this part of the pitch.

For instance, Arsenal were rumoured to want Darwin Nunez yesterday, but the Liverpool man is not for sale.

In any case, Arteta will be taking a huge risk in not replacing Nketiah in a like-for-like manner.
