Arsenal have just been handed a multi-million-pound windfall from an unlikely source ahead of deadline day.
As the conclusion of the summer transfer window edges closer, Mikel Arteta and Edu will be pushing to give fans an exciting end to the market.
Arsenal have only welcomed two players so far, with David Raya’s loan from Brentford made permanent and Riccardo Calafiori captured from Bologna.
There is hope that Arsenal’s pursuit of Mikel Merino will soon come to its desired end, as Real Sociedad’s club president was spotted in London amid transfer talks.
While the attention in North London is on the Spaniard’s pending arrival, Edu has just been handed another cause for celebration.

Arsenal set to earn millions from former academy player Mark McGuinness
In 2021, Arsenal offloaded defender Mark McGuinness from the academy as the Irishman joined Cardiff City.
The centre-back never secured his senior debut for the Gunners during his 10-year stay in North London however, his former club have just received millions as a result of his latest move.
As reported by journalist Simon Collings, Arsenal will receive £2m from McGuinness’ transfer from Cardiff City to Luton Town.
The defender’s move to join the Hatters is rumoured to be worth around the £10m mark, which will now positively affect Arsenal’s finances.
When the Gunners parted ways with McGuinness in 2021, a sell-on clause was included, which Collings reported as being worth 30% of any profit Cardiff made on the 23-year-old.
It’s a smart piece of business from the Gunners, who have boosted their finances as a result of maintaining a presence in the academy graduate’s future.
Arsenal’s transfer stance is starting to mature
Arsenal haven’t only grown on the pitch over the past few years, as the club’s approach to the transfer market is beginning to represent the movements of a well-run side.
Not many wanted to see Emile Smith Rowe exit, however, gaining a £27m profit on the Englishman was strong business from Edu.
The same can be said about the pending departure of Eddie Nketiah, who could join Nottingham Forest in a permanent deal before deadline day.
Pocketing a mere £2m from McGuinness’ move seems fairly insignificant in comparison to other deals that are unfolding in the market but, there is much more to the story than the seven-figure profit.
Arsenal planned for the future by inserting a sell-on fee when the Irishman departed, with Edu now able to reap the benefits of the ex-academy jewel’s development since his exit.
