One Arsenal player is now eager to leave the North London club this summer as a switch to a European club looks to be on the horizon.

Arsenal are looking to move a number of players on this summer.

A decision has been made about the future of Aaron Ramsdale. Meanwhile, Reiss Nelson has also been put up for sale.

Mikel Arteta will be keen to clear space in his squad for new arrivals, as the Gunners are seeking to upgrade and invest in multiple parts of the pitch this summer.

One player who has been routinely linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium is Eddie Nketiah.

The Hale End academy graduate fell down the pecking order last season, as he was reduced a to a bit-part role in the squad after the turn of the year. It has now become clear that the striker is ready for a new challenge.

Eddie Nketiah wants Arsenal exit with Marseille transfer lined up

Marseille are trying to sign Nketiah from Arsenal. Whilst it is expected that the two clubs will eventually come to an agreement, there is currently a difference between how the two sides feel that the deal should be structured.

What is more clear, though, is that the 25-year-old wants the move to happen. As reported by GiveMeSport, Nketiah will be “happy” to leave Arsenal this summer, and is excited by the prospect of testing himself in Ligue 1.

It is easy to understand why Nketiah is ready for a fresh start in pastures new. He has reached a stage in his career when he needs to be playing regular football, and it has become clear that he will not get the opportunity to do so for the Gunners.

The once-capped England international has plenty of quality, and can certainly score goals if given an extended run of games, but it does seem that Arteta’s side have now reached a level beyond his comfort and ability to reliably contribute.

However, the Spanish coach must be careful not to leave himself light on attacking options in the case of Nketiah’s departure. Whilst Kai Havertz has established himself as the Gunners’ first choice centre-forward, Gabriel Jesus’ fitness is unreliable and other back up options are thin on the ground.

If Nketiah goes, signing a new striker must be Arsenal’s top priority.
