Christian Norgaard believes he can make a ‘real impact’ on the Arsenal squad ahead of his pending move to North London, Arsenal Insider understands.

Arsenal are set to sign Norgaard for an initial £10m fee from Premier League outfit Brentford with the deal potentially rising to £12m with add-ons.

Journalist David Ornstein has claimed that the deal has been completed with Norgaard already passing medical tests and has signed a contract at the Emirates Stadium.

With Martin Zubimendi’s arrival confirmed by Arsenal and Mikel Arteta already having the likes of Declan Rice and Mikel Merino to call upon, Norgaard is ready to prove that he can help bring success to the Gunners.

Christian Norgaard believes he has ‘years left’ at Premier League level

Norgaard may not be the most attractive name to arrive in North London this summer with growing belief that the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze could be joining the Dane.

However, Andrea Berta has pounced upon a proven Premier League midfielder to fill a void in the centre of midfield after Jorginho’s departure.

TBR Football’s chief transfer expert Graeme Bailey has revealed that Arsenal viewed Norgaard’s signing as a ‘no-brainer’ given the fee involved and the player’s quality.

Bailey stated: “Christian Norgaard’s signing has shocked a few people – but am told this was a ‘no brainer’ for Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta.

“They wanted some experience to replace Thomas Partey – Premier League experience and Norgaard at less than £15 milllion is an unreal deal, you can barely get a good Championship midfielder for that.

“Norgaard is also ‘over the moon’ he thinks he can make a real impact on Arsenal and despite his age, he is in great shape and thinks he has years left at this level.”

How Christian Norgaard compared to Jorginho last season

The Dane once again excelled for Brentford last season and Thomas Frank was full of praise for Norgaard, even labelling him as one of the best in the division in his position.

With Arsenal keen to fight on all four trophy fronts next campaign, Norgaard is expected to replace Jorginho and be the man used in rotation for a variety of competitions.

Whilst Norgaard will be expected to keep possession better under Arteta, the Gunners are likely to have more control of matches than he experienced with Brentford.

His superior statistics in tackling and aerial duels prove that Arsenal are bolstering their defensive solidity once again and Norgaard is expecting to fit right in at the Emirates.
