Arsenal remain interested in signing Eberechi Eze this summer, despite already adding Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke to their front line.
The Gunners scored 17 fewer goals than Liverpool last season in the Premier League, and have responded to this by acquiring additional offensive firepower.
Gyokeres has signed from Sporting to usurp Kai Havertz, while Madueke has been brought in to provide cover and competition for Bukayo Saka.
The North Londoners don’t want to stop there, however, with Eze remaining on their radar and a genuine option towards the end of the window.

Charles Watts says Eberechi Eze’s release clause hasn’t expired yet
Tottenham have now joined the race to sign Eze, who has been Arsenal’s top target since securing a deal for Gyokeres.
The Gunners are eager to add someone to Mikel Arteta’s ranks who has the potential to become the starting left winger at the Emirates, but can also compete with Martin Odegaard in midfield.
Eze is viewed as the ideal option in this regard, fitting this profile, although Spurs’ interest will undoubtedly make landing the Crystal Palace man more difficult.
Palace remain firm on their valuation, which is understood to be around the player’s purported £68 million release clause.
Many reports have emerged suggesting this release clause expired at the end of July, with Fabrizio Romano among those to indicate this.
However, Arsenal journalist Charles Watts isn’t convinced this is definitely the case, and instead believes the clause may still be in place.
“I’m not sure about that, I said that the other day,” Watts said on his YouTube channel.
“Depending on who you speak to, I can’t say I’m 100% sure, but I don’t think Eze’s release clause has expired.
“It depends who you speak to, some people say it has and some people say it hasn’t, and it expires on the 15th. I’m not sure it’s set in stone that this release clause has expired yet.”

Arsenal have to beat Tottenham to the signing of Eberechi Eze
If the release clause has indeed not yet reached its expiration date, then the Gunners should move quickly to activate it.
If Watts’ source is correct, then Andrea Berta has a matter of days left to stump up the £68 million fee and sign Eze without having to negotiate with Palace.
| Eberechi Eze’s Premier League Statistics 2024/25 | |
| Appearances | 34 |
| Goals | 8 |
| Assists | 8 |
| Shots per 90 | 3.48 |
| Expected Goals per 90 | 0.36 |
| Key Passes per 90 | 2.01 |
| Expected Assists per 90 | 0.22 |
| Successful Take-ons per 90 | 2.33 |
The longer the Gunners wait to make their move, the more likely the Eagles are to hold out for an excessive fee, and the more likely it is that Tottenham will hijack the deal.
Arsenal fans have been set on Eze for some time, and the atmosphere around N5 will certainly be hugely damaged in the early weeks of the season if their bitter rivals seal a deal for him instead.
It’s simply not a scenario Berta and Arteta can afford to let unfold.
