Arsenal suffered a huge dip in form when Kai Havertz was struck down with injury last season.
The German forward was on course for his best season since arriving in England before suffering a hamstring tear whilst away on the club’s mid-season break to Dubai.
Havertz managed a couple of appearances before the end of the season but was hugely missed as Mikel Arteta’s side dropped crucial points in the Premier League title race in his absence.
The Gunners are targeting a centre forward in the transfer window this summer but the 26-year-old will be keen to remind people of his importance to the side. He will enjoy what the club have just done in their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres.

Arsenal offer for Viktor Gyokeres below what they paid for Kai Havertz
Arsenal signed Havertz for a fee of £65m back in June 2023 and the Gunners’ latest offer for Gyokeres is well below that figure.
Gyokeres is currently on strike at Sporting Lisbon to try and force through a move to North London but Andrea Berta’s latest offer of £60m is still not enough to convince the Portuguese club to sell.
As per BBC Sport, the Swedish striker now faces disciplinary action for failing to report for pre-season training and the club’s president believes his actions have now made his departure ‘more complicated.’

Frederico Varandas stated: “No one is above the interests of the club. We’re calm. Everything can be solved with the closure of the market, a hefty fine and an apology to the group,
“If they don’t want to pay Viktor’s fair market value, we’ll be very comfortable with that for the next three years.
“If the geniuses who are devising this strategy think that this puts pressure on me to make it easier for him to leave, not only are they completely wrong, but they are also making it more complicated for the player to leave.”
Kai Havertz can still be Arsenal’s main striker even if Viktor Gyokeres signs
Havertz has impressed upon return for pre-season with fans and figures at the club noticing his athleticism and excellent physical shape.
Should the Gunners eventually get a deal over the line for Gyokeres, there is no guarantee that he will dislodge Havertz as the starting centre forward.

| Havertz | 36 | 15 | 5 |
Jamie Carragher has backed Havertz to keep his place in the Arsenal side next season and with a hunger and desire to prove doubters wrong, competition for places could work in Arteta’s favour.
The German will be keen to show that he can score the goals to elevate Arsenal to a major title and will know that any dip in form could mean that the Swede is waiting in the wings to pounce.
