Arsenal are expected to oversee a number of departures before the transfer window closes.

Andrea Berta has already begun reshaping the squad, and after spending heavily on new signings, the Gunners are now looking to balance the books by moving a few players on.

Several names have been linked with exits in recent weeks, especially those who are no longer guaranteed regular minutes under Mikel Arteta.

One of them is Gabriel Jesus, and a new report claims Marco Silva wants to make him one of his first signings when he replaces Jose Mourinho at Benfica.

Marco Silva wants Gabriel Jesus as one of his first Benfica signings

Jesus finds himself at a crossroads this summer.

The Brazilian arrived at Arsenal in 2022 and immediately transformed the mood around the football club. His energy, movement and winning mentality helped convince many people that the Gunners were ready to compete for major honours again.

Unfortunately, injuries have prevented him from building on that brilliant start.

Every time Jesus seemed ready to find rhythm, another setback arrived, and that has ultimately allowed other players to move ahead of him in the pecking order.

Viktor Gyokeres is now Arsenal’s first-choice striker, while Kai Havertz offers Arteta another option through the middle.

That leaves Jesus facing an uncertain future as he enters the final year of his contract. According to Portuguese journalist Bruno Francisco, Benfica are monitoring the situation closely.

The Portuguese giants are preparing for a managerial change, with Mourinho expected to leave and Silva tipped to take over.

If that happens, Jesus is said to be one of the players Silva wants to bring to Lisbon.

A move could suit all parties, as Benfica would get an experienced attacker with elite-level pedigree, while Jesus would have the opportunity to become a leading figure again rather than a squad player.

Arsenal have already set a price tag for Gabriel Jesus

There is little doubt Arsenal would be willing to sell Jesus if a suitable offer arrives.

The Gunners have already strengthened their attack, and keeping a player on big wages who has just one year remaining on his contract does not make much sense financially.

According to David Ornstein, Arsenal are looking for a fee of up to £20 million for Jesus.

Considering they paid around £45 million to sign him from Manchester City three years ago, that would represent a respectable return at this stage of his contract.

Whether Arsenal actually receive that amount is another question entirely.

Jesus’ injury record, current role in the squad and salary demands could make negotiations difficult, even if Benfica and Silva are keen to bring him in.
