Arsenal’s hunt for a new forward could see them in the race for Manchester United star Marcus Rashford over the January transfer window.

The Gunners have struggled to score goals as of late, leading to plenty of links over a clinical centre-forward or another playmaker for the squad.

Just how much business the side is capable of pulling off in the January transfer window remains to be seen, though Arsenal are likely to keep an eye out for possible opportunities.

One chance on the market could see Marcus Rashford leave Manchester United, with plenty of rumours surrounding his future, opening up a possibility of him moving to the Emirates Stadium.

Fabrizio Romano gives Marcus Rashford transfer update

Amid plenty of rumours about Marcus Rashford’s future, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the player’s current situation.

The forward was left out of Manchester United’s squad to face Manchester City in the Manchester derby – which ended up with the Red Devils completing a late turnaround to win the match.

The 27-year-old’s future has come into question yet again, following on from the tie, with Romano discussing it on his YouTube channel.

“For Marcus Rashford, it’s not the first time that we’ve seen this kind of situation. So basically, what’s going on is that Manchester United will talk to the player and let’s see what kind of situation there will be around Marcus Rashford.

“In recent weeks we’ve had many links with an exit of Marcus Rashford, but what we have to say today is Man United have not entertained any negotiations so they didn’t receive any concrete bid for Marcus Rashford.

“January is in two weeks, so at the moment, still nothing concrete for the January transfer window.”

It remains to be seen just what may come from the transfer window for the forward, or if Arsenal have a chance at securing a deal.

However, with Rashford’s transfer price reported at £40million, it would be no surprise if teams did take their chances.

What Ruben Amorim has said about Marcus Rashford

With rumours swirling around Rashford, his removal from the squad for the Manchester derby has only added to that.

After that, Roy Keane suggested Rashford should leave Man United, though the words from his manager weren’t quite as harsh.

Speaking to Sky Sports about the decision to drop the forward, Ruben Amorim said: “Selection. We try to evaluate everything – training, performance, game performance, engagement with the teammates, push the teammates up.

“Everything is on the line when we analyse and try to choose the players, so it was my selection. Simple.

“I don’t want to send a message (by dropping Garnacho and Rashford). It’s simply an evaluation, and they know it.”

Whether that sparks a change for the pair to keep them in the team or if that pushes them closer to the exit door, remains to be seen.
