Arsenal fans are desperate for Mikel Arteta to deliver a striker in the near future amid concerns over the attack.
The matter of Arsenal’s lack of conviction in attack has become a theme throughout the 2024/25 campaign.
Several Arsenal stars underperformed against Manchester United on a night that saw an attacking nightmare unfold at the Emirates.
As the Gunners struggled to break down the ten men of Man United, fans called on Arteta to bolster the attack in the January transfer window.

Jhon Duran considered the perfect fit for Arsenal
The North Londoners have been linked to an array of forwards this month, with Dusan Vlahovic said to be of interest to Arsenal.
The Serbian isn’t the only player rumoured to be admired by Arteta, with plenty of options out there for the Gunners to explore.
Following the summer transfer window, Arsenal were linked to Jhon Duran, Aston Villa’s striker unearthed by Unai Emery.
Links to the Colombian have come to light more recently, as Villa placed a £60m asking price on Duran, who has 12 goals this season.
Arsenal Insider wanted to get the lowdown on Arsenal’s chances of signing Duran, seeking the opinion of transfer expert Graeme Bailey.
“Opinion wise he’d be absolutely perfect for Arsenal but he’s a lot of money, £60m+. Will Arsenal do that in January? I don’t think anyone will,” Bailey explained.
The expert then explained that while Duran is naturally admired by Arsenal, the Gunners would struggle to lure a striker of his calibre to the Emirates this winter.
“Duran is someone who ticks a lot of boxes but with Arsenal, we weren’t expecting them to do much in January. Everyone says about strikers but Arsenal knew the situation before the season started and they were seemingly happy. Not saying they’re not concerned but it’s not something they want to do [in January].”
While a number nine looks off the cards this month, it’s understood that Arsenal are eager to sign an attacking player before the January window closes.
Duran is a natural goalscorer
Admiring a player like Duran needs little explanation, as Villa’s number nine has exactly what Arsenal are missing right now.
In centre-forwards Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, Arteta has two incredibly talented players who offer a lot but, are far from clinical.
| Statistic | Jhon Duran | Kai Havertz | Gabriel Jesus |
| Non-penalty goals | 1.05 | 0.43 | 0.44 |
| Shots | 4.34 | 2.37 | 2.96 |
| Shot on target % | 51.7% | 41.0% | 35.0% |
| Conversion rate % | 24% | 18% | 15% |
As seen above, when it comes to clinical, Duran stands head and shoulders above the Arsenal duo, averaging a monstrous 1.05 non-penalty goals per 90 in the Premier League this term.
If Villa are truly willing to part ways with the 21-year-old for a price in the region of £60m, Arteta must not stutter to acquire his signature in the near future.
