Arsenal could be about to change their approach in the January transfer window, with Mikel Arteta handed yet another injury blow.

Gabriel Jesus is suspected to have suffered an ACL injury during the Gunners’ FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.

Arteta was adamant that Arsenal are active in the transfer market in search of reinforcements, as the North Londoners continue to suffer on the injury front.

As we near the midway point in the January window, questions are being asked more frequently with regard to what Arsenal’s next steps are before the end of the month.

Arsenal transfer news: Gunners to make January signing

Arteta expressed his worry about Jesus’ injury, with the early signs not looking good for the striker.

The Brazilian is expected to join the long list of Arsenal absences, in what has been a trialling time for the Gunners.

While Arteta has stressed that he has full trust in his squad, the Arsenal manager’s hands could be tied when it comes to pushing on to the summer window without welcoming new faces.

The Spaniard comes across as stubborn in that sense however, that couldn’t be further from the truth, as sources have revealed.

Sources close to Arsenal Insider understand that Arsenal have been eyeing forwards that can make the squad better, despite viewing the January market as purely reactionary.

It’s said that even before Jesus’ injury, Arsenal wanted to sign two additional forwards, with the urgency now greater amid the Brazilian’s diagnosis.

A foreign loan is understood to be the most likely route for Arteta and co to go down, with it expressed that the club ‘know who they like’, despite ‘many’ players being offered.

Fans want to see Arsenal sign a forward, which has been the case for the majority of this season and now, supporters could be about to get what they’re yearning for.

Sources confirmed that Arsenal ‘will sign a forward this month’ but, who that figure is has yet to be determined.

Arsenal must hire before it’s too late

Arteta has made it clear that Arsenal will only sign a player who will bolster the squad right now, which separates the desired from the practical.

Arsenal have been linked to a host of players this month but, the ability to get a deal over the line remains unknown.

Fans want to see immediate answers, as injuries aside, the Gunners have been far from potent enough in the final third.

Now, it’s become clear that Arteta and Arsenal have a plan to recruit this winter, with form needing to improve dramatically if the 2024/25 campaign is to end with joy.
