Arsenal face yet more uncertainty in the goalkeeping department this summer, as interest grows in Aaron Ramsdale.
Ramsdale lost his place to David Raya last season, and the England International is expected to move on in search of regular minutes this summer.
However, with the Premier League season about to start, a move has not yet materialised for the goalkeeper, but Arsenal have now rejected an offer for Ramsdale.
A loan bid arrived from Dutch giants Ajax, but Arsenal instantly knocked it back, with little interest in letting the 26-year-old depart temporarily.
It is clear that Ramsdale needs to move on to play regularly, and a sale this summer would be best before his value drops even further.
If Ramsdale does leave, Arsenal would need to replace him, and Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia has been linked. However, former Gunner Wojciech Szczesny, who was touted as a possible option earlier this summer, is now a free agent, but Arsenal fans are divided over whether to sign him or not.

Arsenal fans are divided over Wojciech Szczesny return as Aaron Ramsdale replacement
Arsenal fans have now taken to X following the news that Szczesny is now available as a free agent, with some dreaming of a sensational comeback nearly a decade since he last played for the club, whilst others are concerned that he may not fit Mikel Arteta’s style of play.
“Some of the early summer reports were Ramsdale out, Hein loan, Setford U23, Garcia no. 2 and old head no.3 with Szczesny’s name thrown around. Would love it!” One fan claimed.
“No brainer to get him now if we can agree a low wage. Rambo can leave immediately then,” another pointed out.
“Sell Ramsdale, Nketiah & Nelson (straight sell or loan with obligation to buy doesn’t matter) and bring Szczesny home for free,” a fan demanded.
However, some are less keen on the nostalgia-tinted move.
“I can’t see us going it – Arteta likes a GK who is good with his feet and who essentially operates as an outfield player in terms of distribution and being comfortable on the ball. Szczesny doesn’t possess those attributes unfortunately,” a fan highlighted.
“We ain’t doing this, no room for sentiment, Joan Garcia is the next guy in line if Ramsdale leave, we need goalkeeper who could play out from the back,” another fan stated.
“Mikel played with him. We all know how Mikel is about players fitting in. Szczesny was a bit of a wild card. Doubt Mikel entertains this. He also cannot play with ball to feet,” a fan claimed.
Wojciech Szczesny Arsenal return would solve several problems
If Szczesny is happy to play a backup role to Raya, then a return on a free transfer would be a no-brainer if his wage demands are reasonable.
Having come through Arsenal’s Academy, he would be at home in North London, and also counts towards the club’s homegrown quota.
The Poland hero would bring plenty of title-winning experience from his time at Juventus, and has also competed in the latter stages of the Champions League.
Szczesny may not be as comfortable with the ball at his feet as Raya, but this is why he would be playing a backup role. If Ramsdale is sold for a significant fee, and Szczesny arrives on a free, then financially the deal would reap huge benefits.
