Arsenal had an unprecedented summer transfer window.

The Gunners spent over £200 million on eight new signings, and all of them have had a positive impact under Mikel Arteta so far.

Arsenal’s most expensive signing in the summer was Eberechi Eze, and the England international has shown his class in the famous red and white already.

However, before he became an option, GiveMeSport claimed that Arteta’s ‘dream’ signing was Rodrygo Goes of Real Madrid.

If you were Andrea Berta and could sign any player in the world right now, who would it be and why?

Arsenal target Rodrygo’s transfer value plummets

Rodrygo was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer.

The Gunners needed a new wide player, and they ended up with Noni Madueke and Eze in the end.

Arsenal fans were happy with that, but neither player is as accomplished as Rodrygo.

The Real Madrid star stayed put after several links with a move to Arsenal. Now, six months later, his transfer value has taken a serious hit.

Sport claim that even though Real Madrid will still want around €100 million to sell Rodrygo, his actual market value has come down to €60 million.

The report further claims that the Brazil international has his sights set on a move to the Premier League, and Arsenal have once again been linked with a move to sign him.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are the other club credited with an interest in Rodrygo.

If you were Andrea Berta, how much would you pay to sign Rodrygo for Arsenal in 2026?

The real reason why Arsenal did not sign Rodrygo in the summer

Arsenal were right to target a move for Rodrygo in the summer.

The Brazilian is one of Real Madrid’s best players. He can play anywhere across the frontline, has the ability to create and score goals, and is a proven winner.

Signing him would’ve been fantastic for Arsenal, but Ben Jacobs revealed recently that Andrea Berta felt that the overall cost of the deal to sign Rodrygo was far too expensive.

That is still the case, which is why the Gunners have turned to other options – like Kenan Yildiz of Juventus.

We think the Turk would be an even better signing than Rodrygo.
