Moises Caicedo says he’s really ‘happy’ after seeing news coming out of Arsenal on deadline day

Andrea Berta’s work in the summer transfer window is attracting attention from more than just Arsenal fans. 

Arsenal fans have been mesmerised by Berta, who made a statement in his first summer as the club’s sporting director. 

Each detail of Mikel Arteta’s project was thought out, with the Gunners strengthening in every position through the signing of eight players. 

With £257m spent and Arsenal’s squad depth hugely improving, Berta’s work is done on the transfer front until January.

Moises Caicedo reacts to Piero Hincapie’s transfer to Arsenal 

After the six captures of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Viktor Gyokeres, Cristhian Mosquera, Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke, it was unclear who else Arsenal would bring in. 

That made the sudden hijack to sign Eberechi Eze all the more thrilling, with Berta concluding the window by completing a deadline day deal for Piero Hincapie. 

Arsenal struck a loan-to-buy agreement for the Ecuadorian defender, who will strengthen Arteta’s defence both centrally and on the left.

The Gunners’ squad depth is growing, which is bad news for their rivals, as the lack of depth was an issue last term; however, one player of a rival club is actually happy with Hincapie’s move. 

On Instagram, Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo sent a message to Hincapie after he announced himself as an Arsenal player. 

“Happy for you brother,” Caicedo said, wishing his international teammate well on his journey to the Premier League.

It will be a career first for the pair to go head-to-head, as the midfielder and Arteta’s new defender not only play together for Ecuador, but used to be teammates at Independiente del Valle. 

Arsenal strengthened in every position in the summer transfer window 

There was a time that Caicedo and Hincapie could’ve been teammates, as Arsenal wanted to sign the midfielder from Brighton before he joined Chelsea.

Given the midfield Arteta now has at his disposal, the Gunners won’t be thinking of what could’ve been. 

The summer transfer window has been a statement one for Arsenal, who have strengthened in every position, which is a scenario fans could’ve only dreamed of. 

Hincapie became Arsenal’s second defensive acquisition of the summer after Mosquera, with the two being similar in that they can play centrally and on the flank. 

It’s been a summer to celebrate for the Gunners, and now, the hard work begins.
