Arsenal will be in the market for new players this summer and it’s safe to say Newcastle United appear to be a club of interest for the Gunners.
The Toon are expected to sell a number of key players and with that in mind, Arsenal have expressed interest in a number of their stars.
Anthony Gordon has been watched for a while and Sandro Tonali is a midfielder who very much interests Mikel Arteta.
Further, Tino Livramento is apparently on Arsenal’s radar as well as new right-back.
Now, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, there is a chance Newcastle could actually hang onto at least one of that trio.
If you could sign one of Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali or Tino Livramento, who are you taking right now and why?
Whether Newcastle will sell Gordon, Tonali or Livramento as Arsenal and Man United circle
It’s hard to pick a priority signing really out of these three for the Gunners. Most would probably argue that Tonali is the pick of the bunch.
However, according to Jacobs, the Italian could end up being the one who actually stays.
“Newcastle will sell Anthony Gordon. They are prepared to sanction a Tino Livramento sale. And as a result, they will fight to keep both of their central midfielders,” Jacobs revealed.
“And for Tonali to go, it’s going to be in excess of £100 million with a bigger wage than some of the other midfielders and a big agent commission and a Newcastle United that might wait and delay and drag it on whilst they try and find another midfielder of their own.
“So Manchester United have liked Tonali for quite some time, but there’s no guarantee that they choose to progress because of the overall cost of that potential deal.”
After a memorable season already which could culminate in Arsenal winning both of the top prizes in the game, it will be hard to improve the squad this summer.
But it is needs must for Mikel Arteta and he will look at Pep Guardiola and how he continually makes improvements to his squad.
Newcastle, of course, have some enticing options but they’re also expensive.
Quite whether Arsenal will break that £100m barrier to sign another player, remains to be seen.
