Arsenal are beginning to make early moves in the transfer window.
The Gunners have just one game remaining this season, with a visit to already relegated Southampton to come on the final day next weekend.
Thus, Andrea Berta’s attention has already turned to bolstering Mikel Arteta’s squad, as the Emirates hierarchy prepares to launch another assault on the Premier League title next campaign.
Martin Zubimendi is expected to sign from Real Sociedad, while the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres and Nico Williams have been heavily linked with a switch to N5.

Arsenal transfer target Matheus Cunha set to sign for Manchester United
While the likes of Zubimendi and Gyokeres seem to have their hearts set on a move to Arsenal, another target doesn’t appear to have been open to signing for the North London club.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Matheus Cunha, who has a release clause believed to be worth around £62.5 million.
However, the Brazilian has opted to join Manchester United, with the Red Devils making an aggressive move to land the player in the last few weeks.
According to Fabrizio Romano, United have reached an agreement with Wolves to sign the versatile forward, who has accepted the personal terms proposed to him by the north-west club.
The deal is expected to go through shortly, meaning Arsenal will miss out on a player who is understood to have been a genuine transfer target on their extensive shortlist of forward options.
Cunha will become Amorim’s first summer signing at Old Trafford.

Matheus Cunha wasn’t the right man for Arsenal
Cunha has netted 17 goals in all competitions this season, in what has been the most fruitful campaign of his career thus far.
However, while being an excellent footballer, Arsenal should be happy that the Brazil international opted for Manchester rather than North London.
Not only do Arsenal reportedly have concerns over Cunha’s personality, but from a purely footballing point of view, he wouldn’t make sense for Arteta’s team.
The 25-year-old isn’t the out-and-out striker who spends most of his time in the opposition box that Arsenal need, nor is he the explosive touchline winger the Gunners are crying out for.
| Cunha’s Premier League Statistics 2024/25 | |
| Appearances | 31 |
| Goals | 15 |
| Assists | 6 |
| Shots per 90 | 3.59 |
| Expected Goals per 90 | 0.29 |
| Successful Take-Ons per 90 | 2.1 |
He’s also not really capable of operating in a midfield role, but is perfectly suited to the inside forward position that Amorim’s 3-4-3 system contains.
Cunha also thrives in transition, with his ability to carry the ball into space and get long-range shots off his greatest attribute.
Arsenal rarely have space like this to operate in, and Cunha isn’t a small space player designed to break down compact low blocks.
The former Atletico Madrid man picking United is actually a blessing in disguise for Arteta.
