Arsenal have held fresh talks with Atletico Madrid over Julian Alvarez.
According to Hand of Arsenal, senior figures from both clubs have spoken directly about a possible deal.
Right now, there is reportedly a gap in valuation, with Atletico wanting £100million, while Arsenal have been willing to go to £90million.
Alvarez himself would consider a move to north London, but only if his preferred destination of Barcelona cannot materialise.
💰 How much cash plus Viktor Gyokeres should Arsenal demand for Julian Alvarez?
👀 Atletico Madrid want £52m + Gyokeres…
Atletico are reluctant to sell to their Spanish rivals, which could obviously give Arsenal the advantage if they really push for it.
It is a complicated situation, and one which might just drag out through the summer. But Paul Scholes has a simple message for the Gunners.
Paul Scholes tells Arsenal to just go and get Julian Alvarez
Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football, Scholes said, “Atletico are asking for £100m, Arsenal are willing to spend £90million.
“If Atletico Madrid want £100million for him, any big club just go and get him, go and get him.
“I don’t think there are many top-class centre-forwards knocking about, are there?”
He is right. The market for elite centre-forwards this summer is thin.
Sam Allardyce recently argued Alvarez wouldn’t suit Arsenal, but that fundamentally misunderstands how Mikel Arteta likes to attack.
As Hand of Arsenal report, Arteta sees Alvarez as a potential marquee signing who could transform the attack.

The Argentine can lead the line or even play off another striker like Kai Havertz, as well as drifting into wide areas and alternating between someone like Morgan Rogers.
That is the sort of firepower the Premier League champions should be aiming for.
And in a transfer market where clubs are paying £116million for Elliot Anderson and £100million for Sandro Tonali, £100million for Alvarez seems somewhat reasonable — at least as far as £100million transfers go.
If Arsenal genuinely believe Alvarez is the player to take them to the next level, and Arteta clearly does, then it’s on Andrea Berta to deliver him one of the best forwards in the world.
