Premier League side have ‘asked about’ signing £30m Arsenal star on deadline day

Nottingham Forest made a deadline day enquiry about Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Aaron Ramsdale does not have a long-term future at Arsenal.

The north London outfit expect the outcast shot-stopper to depart from the Emirates Stadium at the end of this season. Until then, though, Arsenal have made it clear to Ramsdale that he is going nowhere.

Mikel Arteta has wisely decided that it would be a foolish risk to allow the 25-year-old to leave the club at this stage, without any other experienced back-up options to David Raya available to him in his squad.

The Gunners’ verdict may well have come as a blow to Ramsdale, as the four-cap England international will surely be desperate to get back to playing regular football ahead of this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament.

However, the £30 million former Sheffield United man now looks set to warm the bench in north London until the bitter end of the current campaign.

Despite Arsenal’s stance, Nottingham Forest have “asked about” the player’s potential availability, according to journalist Daniel Taylor, reporting on X. There is no sign that Ramsdale will be given the chance to follow in Matt Turner’s footsteps from the Emirates Stadium to the City Ground today though.

What legacy will Aaron Ramsdale leave at Arsenal?

Assuming Ramsdale does make his exit this summer, he will be fondly remembered by the Arsenal faithful. Many of the club’s supporters took issue with Arteta’s decision to make Raya his new No. 1 this season, especially after the Spaniard made a number of errors early on in his tenure between the sticks.

Ramsdale has been a hugely important player for Arsenal in recent seasons, helping the club to emerge as genuine title contenders again and secure a return to the Champions League.

In his time at the club, he has shown that he can shine at the highest level, and he will surely not lack for suitors by the time Arsenal are willing to sanction his departure.
