PSG could reportedly look to Serge Gnabry as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, with the German international once on Arsenal’s books.

It’s arguably the greatest mistake the Gunners have ever made in recent transfer history, with Arsenal making the decision in 2016 to sell Gnabry to Werder Bremen for just £7m.

As we know, the attacker went on to flourish in the Bundesliga, winning a move to Bayern Munich and becoming a mainstay for the Germany national team, with Gnabry branded by Rio Ferdinand as ‘world-class’.

According to Sport Bild journalist Lukas Fischer, the 28-year-old winger has emerged as PSG’s prime candidate to replace Mbappe, who is set to leave the French capital this summer.

Linked with a move to Arsenal, Mbappe’s future has been a talking point for what feels like forever, yet this update seems to strongly indicate that the attacker will be leaving PSG this year.

And replacing the French international with Gnabry would be a smart move from the French giants, with the Bayern winger one of the best in the world despite injury problems this season.

However, for Arsenal, PSG signing Gnabry would be another huge slap in the face for the Gunners over their decision to sell the attacker, who is now deemed good enough to replace one of the best players in the world.

Arsenal have certainly made some errors in the transfer market in recent years, namely selling players for well below market value just to get them off the books.

Yet ask most fans what the Gunners’ biggest misstep in the market has been, and the overwhelming majority will say selling Gnabry to Bremen in 2016.

It was clear at the time that the German winger was a special talent and had the potential to become world-class if given time to thrive in the first-team.

However, Arsene Wenger made his decision, and doing so robbed Arsenal of the chance of seeing a world-class attacker during a period when the Gunners needed one badly..
