Arsenal and Real Madrid have a long history of being linked with and purchasing each other’s players and the Spanish outfit are now considering another Gunner.

We’ve seen Arsenal land Martin Odegaard in recent years while Dani Ceballos flitted between the two clubs.

Further back, Nicolas Anelka made a big move to Madrid, while the mercurial Mesut Ozil enjoyed spells with both clubs.

Recently, Arsenal have been linked with winger Rodrygo, while Madrid continue to monitor William Saliba.

Now, though, it is another Arsenal forward who is apparently on Madrid’s watchlist.

Real Madrid considering Gabriel Martinelli as Vinicius Junior replacement

January is always a window of weird and wonderful rumours and over in Spain, we are being served up with one of the more ‘out there’ rumours so far.

Defensa Central are reporting that Madrid are one of a number of clubs being sounded out by agents when it comes to Gabriel Martinelli.

The report claims Arsenal value Martinelli around the £86m mark (100m Euros) and that the Brazilian forward is being considered as a potential replacement for Vinicius Junior.

It’s suggested that Vinicius could look to move on this summer and with Xabi Alonso also being moved on from his role as manager, changes are once again expected this summer.

Quite whether Arsenal would even entertain the idea of a Martinelli sale, is another matter entirely.

A bid that big is hard to turn down for Arsenal

Let’s not forget that Arsenal paid around £6m for Gabriel Martinelli and they have developed him themselves into a first-teamer.

However, should an offer come their way around the figures being mentioned here, it would surely be too much to turn down.

Martinelli, while crucial for the Gunners, is not always a regular in the first XI and if Madrid got anywhere near the £80m mark, Arsenal would have to sell.

Every player has their price in this market and with Arsenal also being keen on Rodrygo, it might give them the chance to finally land him as well.
