According to a report from The Express, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will not leave Arsenal this summer amid rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona.

The Gabon star, signed by Arsene Wenger in 2018, has had a very difficult 12 months at the Emirates. His mother’s health was on his mind early last season before he fell ill himself later in the campaign. Those factors combined with Arsenal underperforming really affected him, and it was evident in his performances.

To make things worse, he missed the start of this season after testing positive for the infamous virus. It has been a terrible year for Auba, and that has brought out rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona.

Aubameyang will not leave Arsenal

Over the past few days, rumours from Spain have been linking Auba with a move to the Camp Nou. Bizarre claims of a swap deal involving Philippe Coutinho also came up this week, which truly baffled supporters.

Thankfully now, The Express have rubbished those claims. The report has labelled the story linking Auba to Barca as ‘nonsense’, and that should be the end of that as far as Arsenal fans are concerned.

The report claims that Auba is happy at Arsenal and has no plans of leaving the club before the end of his contract. He still wants to perform at the highest level for the Gunners and end up as a club legend.

Auba has always wanted to be an Arsenal legend

One of the biggest reasons why Aubameyang agreed to sign a new contract last season was because he wanted to be a Gunners great. He explained his thoughts in a video released by Arsenal right after his new deal was announced.

He said: “Of course, I knew about Arsenal before I arrived. I’ve seen incredible players, passionate players, Invincible players. I dream of being one of them, amongst the best and staying in the hearts of the fans forever.

“I want to become an Arsenal legend like Thierry, Wrighty, [Tony] Adams, [Dennis] Bergkamp, too many to mention. It means so much for me to be the captain of this special club. I want to leave a legacy. This is where I belong. This is my family.”
